LaTeX Basics
In this post, I will show you how to write LaTeX on macOS. The text editor I will be using is VSCode. The procedure has been tested on macOS Sequoia.
Installation
In the terminal, run the following commands:
brew install --cask mactex
brew install perl
brew install cpanminus
cpanm Unicode::GCString
cpanm YAML::Tiny
cpanm File::HomeDir
The perl
and cpanminus
commands are used to install the necessary Perl modules for LaTeX. Without these modules, code format
will not work in VSCode.
In VSCode, install the LaTeX Workshop extension.
Setup in VSCode
Copy and paste the following code into your settings.json
